The Philadelphia Eagles announced that former Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander will not travel with the team to Green Bay and is out for Monday night’s showdown against the Packers due to a knee injury and coach’s decision for Week 10.

The Eagles acquired Alexander, who played seven seasons in Green Bay, via a trade with the Baltimore Ravens last weekend. Although Alexander wasn’t on the injury report before Sunday and expressed confidence in his health status this week, it’s clear the knee — which has caused problems for over a year dating back to an injury in October of last year — is still affecting the veteran cornerback’s ability to get on the field.

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Eagles think Alexander needs more time “acclimating” to the defense and will now get a chance to “focus on his recovery” from a knee injury.

Alexander has played in only two games this season.

The Eagles will go into Monday night’s matchup with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Adoree’ Jackson, Michael Carter II, Kelee Ringo and rookie Mac McWilliams as options at cornerback.

The Packers and Eagles are scheduled for a 7:15 p.m. CT kickoff from Lambeau Field on Monday night
