The No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels (8-1) had a bye over the weekend and are now gearing up for a massive Week 12 showdown at home against the Florida Gators — a team that recently fired head coach Billy Napier.

However, on Monday, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, well-known for his social media presence, took a subtle jab at another recently fired SEC coach, Hugh Freeze, who was let go by Auburn in the middle of his third season.

Kiffin posted a photo of his car dashboard at 5:52 a.m. showing a temperature of 31 degrees (below freezing) with a caption that read, “Freeze warning.” The post quickly went viral, as fans immediately recognized the playful dig, and others took issue with Kiffin’s jab.

“Come on lane. Freeze just lost his job and has never said anything negative towards you or your family. It’s been all love and now he is jobless and you’re taking digs at him? That’s pretty low. Says a lot about ur character,” a fan said.

Someone else added: “Hugh is no longer troll-worthy. Don’t kick a man when he is already down. You are better than that.”

Another person wrote: “Kicking a man while he is down should never be done. Kiffin might be riding high now but he must have forgotten how it feels to be on the other end of this. The level of immaturity from a grown man his age should be studied. If you don’t know about his skeletons just google.”

“Triggered!” One more fan commented.

Kiffin has never been one to shy away from controversy, and this season he remains one of the hottest names on the coaching circuit despite being under contract with Ole Miss.

He’s been continuously linked to several high-profile SEC jobs, including LSU and Florida, but for now, his focus appears to be on leading Ole Miss to the SEC Championship Game, and potentially competing for a national title — something he hasn’t accomplished since taking over the Rebels program in 2019.
