The hits keep coming for the Washington Commanders. On Monday, head coach Dan Quinn revealed that rookie cornerback Trey Amos fractured his fibula in Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions. Just last week, fellow starting cornerback Marshon Lattimore tore his ACL and is out for the season.

As it turns out, Amos wasn’t the only injury from Sunday’s loss. ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed a list of Commanders who will not travel with the team to Madrid for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. A surprise name was on the list: wide receiver Treylon Burks.

Schefter reported that Burks underwent surgery on Monday for a broken finger suffered in Sunday’s game. While it’s not expected to be a long-term issue, it will keep Burks out of Sunday’s game. He joins wide receivers Terry McLaurin, Noah Brown (IR) and Luke McCaffrey (IR) out for Week 11. McLaurin will make the trip with the team, but will not play. Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who is out, will not make the trip.

The injury is unfortunate for Burks. Signed to the practice squad last month after the Tennessee Titans released him, the 2022 first-round pick was recently signed to the 53-man roster. In his debut for Washington in Week 9, Burks played 33 snaps and caught one pass for 14 yards.

In Week 10 against the Lions, Burks caught all three targets for 58 yards, including a 37-yard deep ball down the sideline. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Burks could play himself into a future role with the Commanders if he finishes the season strong. Injuries plagued him during his three seasons with the Titans.

Washington will again likely sign a receiver or two from the practice squad for Sunday’s game. Robbie Chosen, Ja’Corey Brooks and Jacoby Jones can all be elevated for Week 11.
