A Colts’ rookie came up with two clutch plays late to help Indianapolis secure the win over the Falcons.
Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren led the team in receiving in Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Falcons.
However, going beyond the production, when two of those receptions occurred is what made Warren’s performance particularly impressive.
With 1:17 left in the fourth quarter and the Colts down by three points, Indianapolis faced a 4th-and-2. With Daniel Jones facing quick pressure, he lofted the ball to Warren in the flat, who made a contested catch, and then turned upfield to pick up a 10-yard gain.
The Colts would go on to kick the game-tying field goal, sending the matchup to overtime.
Then, on the Colts’ one and only overtime possession, Jones connected with Warren for a 23-yard gain on a terrific over-the-shoulder reception.
With Indianapolis only needing a field goal to win the game at that point, Warren’s reception took the Colts’ offense from their own 44-yard line to the Atlanta 33-yard line.
Jonathan Taylor would then cap off the game-winning drive with a touchdown.
When it was all said and done, Warren caught eight of 10 passes for 99 yards with a long of 24 yards.
