The San Francisco 49ers, after two games on the road, returned to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, for a Week 10 battle with the Los Angeles Rams, but Kyle Shanahan’s team couldn’t do enough to earn a victory, instead falling to their divisional rivals 42-26.
Los Angeles thoroughly beat down San Francisco in both main phases of the game, as their offense found the end zone six times and their defense forced two turnovers and a turnover on downs.
After the game, Rams legend and future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald expressed pleasure in his former team’s victory over their most-hated rival, as he tweeted “Belt to ass hahaha good (expletive) Rams.”
Some 49ers fans must not have taken so kindly to that because Donald doubled down on his attack of San Francisco and the fan base on Monday, saying “What’s up with all these 49ers fans y’all mad y’all still living off y’all last Super Bowl win in 1995 haha. Y’all know my resume. Let me be.”
This is great for the rivalry, which should be more intense after both teams took one game in the season series this year. San Francisco and Los Angeles will be playing meaningful football down the stretch, and there’s a solid chance that both teams make the postseason, so this could just be the start of the ramped-up trash talking.
