As promised by head coach Dave Canales, the Carolina Panthers have brought a familiar face back to their quarterback room.

The team announced on Tuesday afternoon that they’ve signed quarterback Mike White to their practice squad. The veteran passer was released this past Saturday, with the Panthers opening up an active roster spot for rookie defensive lineman Jared Harrison-Hunte.

White was a fifth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys from the 2018 draft. He has amassed four official NFL campaigns—making seven starts in 15 career games between the New York Jets (2021 to 2022), Miami Dolphins (2023) and Buffalo Bills (2024).

The 30-year-old was first signed back in late October, when starter Bryce Young was dealing with an ankle injury. White would go on to serve as the team’s emergency third quarterback in their Week 9 win over the Green Bay Packers.
