The Tennessee Titans return to the field this Sunday, coming off a more complete team performance against the Los Angeles Chargers and a week’s rest.

Undoubtedly, the Titans had their best special teams and defense performance of the season against the Chargers.

The Titans return to action this Sunday versus their hated divisional rival, the Houston Texans.

History

The Titans and Texans have already played each other this season, with the Texans winning, 26-0. All time, the Titans have a narrow lead in the series, 24-23. The Texans could tie it up this weekend. Last time out in Nashville, the Texans won, 23-14.

Stroud’s injury status

C.J. Stroud, the Texans’ star quarterback, missed the last game due to a concussion. Without him, they still were led by Davis Mills to a 36-29 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Concussion protocol is a fickle thing, and he could certainly miss the next game.

Titans rested up

The Titans had a week of rest and should have given the team a good opportunity to recover and recharge. This is crucial for the injured stars like Jeffery Simmons and Calvin Ridley.

Texans’ defense remains stout

The Texans’ defense currently sits at the top of the league in terms of points allowed. They have talent all over the defense with a great defensive line and starting corners — certainly, a talented and accomplished defense.

But..

The Texans have a middling red zone defense. They rank 20th in terms of red zone touchdowns allowed. The Titans should be looking to exploit it with every chance their offense has.

Latham gets his chance

JC Latham missed the first matchup against the Texans this year with an injury. He is back in the lineup and healthier. He does have a big chance against Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson, both highly effective menaces on defense.
