The Arizona Cardinals are set to be without one of their rising stars for at least a week.

Marvin Harrison Jr., who has broken out in recent weeks, underwent surgery for appendicitis, head coach Jonathan Gannon announced on Nov. 12. The surgery is set to knock him out for at least Week 11, leaving the Cardinals’ nest a little light on receivers.

Injuries have ravaged that position group in Arizona, only complicating matters for a quarterback room that has its own controversies. Jacoby Brissett continues to start for the Cardinals, replacing an injured Kyler Murray.

After being blown out in Seattle during Week 10, the focus now shifts to Week 11. Who will Brissett throw to? More importantly, when will Harrison return?

Here’s the latest on the second-year receiver.

When will Marvin Harrison Jr. return?

Harrison could return in Week 12, but that timeline is not confirmed.

The second-year receiver was ruled out ahead of Week 11 after undergoing surgery for appendicitis, head coach Jonathan Gannon announced on Nov. 12.

Harrison’s availability moving forward depends on how quickly his body can recover. Gannon didn’t elaborate on a potential return date, meaning he could miss additional weeks.

Arizona is slated to play the rival San Francisco 49ers in Week 11 and already had its bye in Week 8. The Cardinals aren’t in a playoff race at 3-6, so there is even less incentive to rush him back.

Cardinals WR depth chart

The Cardinals’ depth in the receiver room has been put to the test lately. Zay Jones suffered an Achilles injury in Week 11 and will be placed on injured reserve.

Simi Fehoko also suffered an injury during the team’s loss to the Seahawks, which will force him to miss time as well. With Harrison being ruled out, the Cardinals are down to three healthy receivers – before making additional moves –for their upcoming contest.
