A fan favorite former Minnesota Vikings QB has taken to social media to defend a current Vikings QB. Tommy Kramer took to social media this morning to share his thoughts on the current quarterback situation in Minnesota, as it seems many fans aren’t being patient enough with the young signal caller. Here’s what #9 had to say about ‘9’.
Former #9 Weighs In On ‘9’, Wants Fans To Practice Patience
According to an X post from Tommy Kramer this morning, fans aren’t giving the current starter enough patience, when, in his opinion, they should.
Kramer went so far as to write that “McCarthy has that competitive, winning, leader attitude you need as a QB, which is huge, you need a guy who commands the huddle. The NFL is much faster than College, let’s give Coach O’Connell and JJ the time they need to clean some things up and see where it goes.”
Not The First Time This Year That Kramer Has Come To McCarthy’s Defense
This isn’t the first time this season that the former #9 in purple has come to the defense of the Vikings’ newest #9. A week earlier, after McCarthy led the Vikings to a surprising win in Detroit, 2-Minute Tommy posted his support for the 2nd-year player from Michigan. Â
Many Vikings fans have been questioning Vikings leadership about letting former Vikings QBs Sam Darold and Daniel ‘Danny Dimes’ Jones walk in free agency. Both Darold and Jones have their new teams, Seattle (7-2) for Darnold and Indianapolis (8-2) for Jones, in first place in their divisions. Both QBs are also playing extremely well after spending time under Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell.
Is The Criticism Fair, This Early In McCarthy’s Career?
The question is out there: Is the criticism fair for such a young QB who has only started 4 games in his career? Time will tell.
The Vikings have a big game this Sunday at home as the first-place Chicago Bears are in town. McCarthy and the Vikings beat the Bears to open the season in Chicago, thanks in part to a 4th quarter comeback led by JJ McCarthy. It’s always difficult to sweep a divisional opponent in a year, but if the Vikings manage to win, it will give them a healthy 3-0 record against fellow NFC North teams.
