NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Friday at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park to continue preparations for Sunday’s game vs the Houston Texans.

Here’s a look at the developments from the day:

-Titans safety Kevin Winston Jr. has needed patience during his rookie season.

First, he had to get healthy, as he was coming off an ACL injury from a year ago.

Then, with veterans ahead of him, he had to wait for his opportunity.

Now, following the departure of safety Quandre Diggs and with safety Xavier Woods injured, Winston is set to take on his biggest role to date, and he’s excited about it.

“Obviously I always have to make sure I prepare like a starter, and be ready,” Winston said. “I am coming in day and out and preparing like a starter, and I have to continue to do that.

“When it is gametime I have to make sure I am ready.”

Winston made his NFL debut on October 5, and he’s earned more opportunities along the way. Winston started against the Chargers on November 2, and he played 26 snaps in that contest.

“I feel amazing,” Winston said. “Everything feels great. I am moving like myself again. I feel so good right now. It is a blessing. And it is a blessing to be at this point right now after all the adversity I went through with the injuries, and recovery. But I feel amazing right now.”

-Safety Xavier Woods (hamstring) has been ruled OUT for Sunday’s game vs the Texans.

-Receiver Bryce Oliver (knee) has been ruled OUT for Sunday’s game vs the Texans.

-Titans interim head coach Mike McCoy named linebacker Cedric Gray as the team’s extra captain on Sunday.

-The Titans on Monday moved running back Kalel Mullings and safety Mike Brown to the team’s Designated to Return to Practice list.

This designation opened up a three-week window for Mullings and Brown to practice with the team, and they will not count against the team’s 53-man roster until being activated from Injured Reserve.

Both players practiced again on Friday. McCoy said the team won’t activate Mullings from Injured Reserve this week, but he indicated there’s a good chance the team will activate Brown.

Now, for more injury updates from Friday:

-Receiver Calvin Ridley (hamstring) practiced again.
