Less than 24 hours after a hamstring injury limited Amik Robertson in practice, he was back on the field Friday. But fellow Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, who has been in concussion protocol since the beginning of the week, was not seen during the media viewing period. His status for matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Nov. 16, is uncertain.
Despite that, coach Dan Campbell said the team is not rushing D.J. Reed back to action. The cornerback, who returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since he suffered a hamstring strain in a Sept. 28 victory over Cleveland, will not be moved from the injured reserve list to the active roster this week.
“I don’t see D.J. yet,” Campbell said. “Love where he’s at. He’s getting better.”
Since Reed was sidelined, Robertson has been a mainstay in the starting lineup after moving outside from his customary position in the slot. He has been a constant presence in a secondary that hasn’t operated at full strength the past seven weeks. Arnold missed two games after hurting his right shoulder in early October and has struggled to stay on the field when he has played. Safety Kerby Joseph, meanwhile, has been out of commission since an Oct. 12 loss to Kansas City because of a lingering knee problem. He hasn’t practiced this week.
Neither has tight end Sam LaPorta, who is dealing with a back injury. Asked about the veteran TE’s status, Campbell didn’t offer a firm answer.
“I’ll know a lot more (later) today,” he said.
