Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Los Angeles Chargers bold takes, prediction
Jacksonville Florida Times-Union has you covered with bold predictions and a couple takes ahead of the Jaguars vs. Chargers game.
The Jacksonville Jaguars hope to get back on track this weekend against the Los Angeles Chargers, but they’ll do so without a few key pieces.
After having his 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve opened to return from the injured reserve list, tight end Brenton Strange worked two days before missing Friday’s practice and being ruled out against Los Angeles. Strange’s chances to play on Sunday always felt like a long shot.
Strange has missed the last four games for Jacksonville due to a hip injury. His timeline to return remains up in the air, but he appears slated to get back on the grass sooner rather than later.
“You want him out there as much as you can. Obviously, we’re continuing to take it day-by-day, but I just know that we’re a better offense right when he’s on the grass and I know how much he wants it. I know how much he’s put into his rehab and the time off. So, hopefully we can continue to get more,” Coen said Friday before practice.
Jacksonville will also have to make due without starting right tackle Anton Harrison, who has missed practice this week due to ankle/knee injuries. Harrison was on the practice field Friday, but did not participate with the team. Backup guard/tackle Cole Van Lanen is likely to take Harrison’s spot.
The team will also be without both cornerback Jourdan Lewis (neck) and tight end Hunter Long (hip/knee). Long participated on a limited basis this week, while Lewis worked with trainers off to the side.
Still, it’s not all bad news for Jacksonville as receiver Brian Thomas Jr. appears to have a chance to go, listed as questionable after missing last week’s game against the Texans with an ankle injury.
Here’s the team’s Friday game status report.
Jaguars injury report lists 4 players out, Brian Thomas Jr. as questionable

TE Hunter Long (hip/knee) – OUT
RT Anton Harrison (knee/ankle) – OUT
