Tennessee Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was seen driving a luxury vehicle just minutes before an alleged shooting in December according to security footage obtained by the Associated Press.
A Dallas County grand jury in Texas filed to indict Sneed on Oct. 11 for failure to report a felony, which is a misdemeanor offense punishable by up to one year in prison or up to a $4,000 fine. The security footage obtained by the AP matches with the surveillance photographs of the scene initially reported by police in the spring.
According to the AP, Sneed was seen getting out of the car at 3:22 p.m. to head into the car dealership where the alleged shooting took place, and per the police affidavit, Sneed was the only person seen driving the car through which the shots alleged came at 3:42 p.m. The shots rang through the passenger’s window.
The other man allegedly inside the car with Sneed, Tekonzae Williams, was indicted by the same Texas grand jury for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Though the surveillance video showed evidence of “four loud pops” coming from the car, no shots connected with any people. An original lawsuit filed against Sneed and Williams sought at least $1 million in damages.
Sneed, 28, is on injured reserve with a quad injury, his second in as many years. He’s in the Titans facility rehabbing but is not eligible to return from IR until at earliest Nov. 30. When asked if he expects Sneed to play again this season, general manager Mike Borgonzi said he didn’t have a clear answer yet.
In a statement, the Titans indicated they are aware of the ongoing legal situation with Sneed and in communication with the NFL. No official punishments have been handed out to Sneed by the team or the league.
The Titans (1-8) host the Houston Texans (4-5) at Nissan Stadium on Nov. 16 (noon CT, FOX).
