The Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated cornerback D’Shawn Jamison for the team’s Week 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, not newly acquired veteran Asante Samuel Jr.
Jamison, 26, is in his second season on the Steelers’ practice squad, but has yet to play in a game for the team. He originally signed to the practice squad on Sept. 17, 2024, re-signed for the 2025 season in January, was waived in August and re-signed to the practice squad again.
A 5-foot-9, 186-pound cornerback, Jamison has primarily played as a slot cornerback in his time with the Steelers, and has also worked as a punt returner.

The Steelers will be without cornerback Darius Slay on Sunday, as he remains in the concussion protocol after taking a hit against the Los Angeles Chargers last week. With Jalen Ramsey starting the last two games at safety, the Steelers were down to three healthy bodies at cornerback: Joey Porter Jr., Brandin Echols and James Pierre.
Before his time with the Steelers, Jamison spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers, playing in three games for the Panthers in 2023.
In three preseason games for the Steelers this year, Jamison played 64 snaps of defense and recorded eight tackles, one for a loss, one quarterback hit and one forced fumble.
Jamison has excellent speed, recording a 4.51-second 40-yard dash and an elite 6.74-second three-cone drill at the 2023 NFL combine. He started his collegiate career at Texas as a wide receiver before moving to cornerback.

Samuel, a former second-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Chargers, was signed by the Steelers this week after finishing his rehab from offseason neck surgery, but the Steelers chose to elevate Jamison instead, delaying Samuel’s Pittsburgh debut by at least one week.
In addition to Jamison, the Steelers also elevated linebacker Mark Robinson from the practice squad. Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, another veteran recently signed to the practice squad, will also not be elevated this week.
