Despite rain, crowds flow into the NFL Draft Theater as the second day of the draft begins on Friday, April 25, 2025, in Green Bay.
The Dallas Cowboys drafted cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. in the third round (76th overall) to address a significant team need.Revel Jr. is considered a valuable pick, projected as a first-round talent before an ACL injury sidelined him for most of last season. He possesses desirable physical attributes, including height, length, and speed, but needs to refine his technique, particularly in deep coverage.Experts view him as a potential early starter with significant upside.
The Dallas Cowboys still haven’t added an offensive skill player, but they did address an area of biggest need when they selected East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. with its third-round pick, the 76th selection overall.
He missed most of last season with a torn ACL but is healthy now and was generally considered a fringe first-round pick before that injury.
Dallas needed a corner and think they are getting value of a healthy player who dropped in the draft because of an injury that cause him to miss much of last season. This follows a trend in this draft of the Cowboys taking the highest-rated player, the value player, left at his position.

Shavon Revel Jr. strengths, weaknesses
According to NFL.com: “Big, long and fast are the physical descriptors that stand out for the East Carolina corner. Revel is leggy when matching press release but he’s disruptive once he gets his hands on the wideout. He plays upright in man coverage, tends to allow small pockets of separation due to his high center of gravity and still needs improvement when it comes to finding and defending the deep ball, despite his ability to stay in phase with vertical routes. He has ideal length and good vision from zone, and he should continue to improve in that coverage with more experience. Revel suffered a torn ACL in September, but his measurables, explosiveness and upside give him a good chance to become an early starter.”
ESPN.com instant analysis
“Trevon Diggs and Da’Ron Bland played a combined 18 games and neither played at their former All-Pro levels when they were healthy. Revel is the best available corner and the 31st player on my board making him a great value pick here.”
