The Kansas City Chiefs will face a tough test against the red-hot Denver Broncos this afternoon.
After a Week 9 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs licked their wounds and began preparing for today’s showdown against the Broncos, who are currently leading the AFC West with an 8-2 record.
While inconsistency has plagued Kansas City on both sides of the ball in 2025, Denver is looking like one of the conference’s top contenders, and the Broncos could advance in their fight for the AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed with a win over the Chiefs.
This week, Chiefs Wire sat down with Brandon Walker of Broncos Wire to get a better idea of how today’s game might play out.
Take a look at Walker’s answers to our questions below:
In your estimation, are the Broncos as good as their 8-2 record would indicate?
“The Broncos’ defense is absolutely this good. The offense, as many media outlets and fans have expressed, is hit or miss. When the offense is on fire, they are as good as any unit in the NFL. When they are ice cold, they have to lean on their defense. Obviously, doing “just enough” won’t be good enough against the upper echelon of NFL teams.”
How has Sean Payton helped Bo Nix avoid a sophomore slump?
“Bo Nix has gone through some rough games, but he is still in the top two of his draft class, alongside Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels. Nix has thrown a touchdown in 17 straight games, which has helped him to progress. One area of his game where Nix has to improve is his footwork. He looks skittish, but if he can get it under control, he is as capable as any gunslinger.”
Who are Denver’s most underrated defensive contributors?
“One player who has been criminally underrated is Justin Strnad. While Dre Greenlaw sat out from injuries or suspension, Strnad has been a quiet anchor in a defense filled with superstars. Strnad has 3.5 sacks, 38 total tackles (14 solo, 24 assisted) and four tackles for loss. Strnad has been a constant contributor, and will be crucial this week as Denver misses Alex Singleton after testicular cancer surgery.”
Final score prediction: Who wins and why?
“Denver is tied for a league-most eight wins, and a league-high seven wins in a row. Denver is missing several key contributors this week, such as Singleton, J.K. Dobbins, Pat Surtain and several other linebackers. Denver brings back Marvin Mims, which brings an explosive element back to the offense, but the Chiefs are nearly at full strength.”
Final score: Chiefs 18, Broncos 16
