The Houston Texans (4-5) face the Tennessee Titans (1-8) this afternoon for a Week 11 game at Nissan Stadium in Nashville between the NFL’s worst offense and its best defense.
These two teams met earlier this season, with Houston shutting out Tennessee 26–0 on September 28. Houston enters off a 36–29 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Tennessee returns from its bye after a 27–20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
With C.J. Stroud still out, Davis Mills gets another start after throwing for 292 yards and three total touchdowns last week. While the Texans’ offense sits middle-of-the-pack (15th overall, 19th scoring), their defense has been elite: No. 1 overall, No. 1 in scoring, second against the run, and fourth against the pass.
E Danielle Hunter, last week’s AFC Defensive Player of the Week, leads Houston with 7.5 sacks and has two sacks in the previous meeting with Tennessee.
The Titans bring the league’s worst offense across every major category, averaging just 14.4 points per game. Rookie QB Cam Ward leads all first-year passers with 1,760 yards but has more interceptions (six) than touchdowns (five) and is the most-sacked quarterback in the NFL. Tennessee’s defense ranks 25th overall and 30th in scoring, though it recorded six sacks in Week 9.
Houston’s playmakers are rolling: Nico Collins (136 yards last week), Jayden Higgins (third TD), Nick Chubb (202 yards in two games vs. Titans), and Will Anderson (four sacks in three career meetings). Tennessee leans on WR Chimere Dike, the NFL’s all-purpose yardage leader (1,514), and DT Jeffery Simmons, who has a sack in three of his last four games.
Predictions
This one is unlikely to be pretty, at least from the Titans’ side. Houston’s defense should be able to pressure the Titans, and the Texans can lean into a manageable game plan. If Houston avoids turnovers and controls the line of scrimmage, they should pull away in the second half. This result seems almost predetermined.
Projected Final Score: Texans 24, Titans 10
