New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd, 29, was shot early Sunday morning and is in critical but stable condition in the hospital, police told ESPN and other news outlets.

A New York Police Department spokesperson told ESPN the shooting happened around 2 a.m. at the Sei Less restaurant on West 38th Street in New York City. Sources told the New York Post that Boyd was shot after a dispute turned violent.

The gunman fired two shots, then fled the scene, according to the New York Post’s sources.

Boyd was transported to Manhattan’s Bellevue Hospital by EMS, police told ESPN. No arrests have been made in the shooting, police told the New York Times.

A Jets spokesperson told ESPN and other news outlets the team was aware of the situation but had no further comment.

Boyd joined the Jets after a tenure with the Minnesota Vikings and stints with the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans.

The Jets played Thursday Night Football this week, losing to the New England Patriots 27-14 in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Their next game is Nov. 23.
