Chase denied spitting on Ramsey in his own postgame press conference, saying, “I didn’t spit on nobody.”

A source confirmed to WLWT that Chase will appeal the ruling. A decision on that appeal will be released in the coming days.

Without Chase, the Bengals will miss not only their top wide receiver, but also arguably the most explosive offensive weapon in the NFL against the 9-2 Patriots.

Through 10 games this season, Chase has 79 catches f0r 861 yards and five touchdowns.

If his appeal is unsuccessful, Chase will be suspended without pay. According to ESPN, Chase would forfeit his weekly paycheck of $448,333, in addition to a bonus of more than $58,000 that he gets for being active for each game.

Chase didn’t speak with the media on Monday but Bengals head coach Zac Taylor did, saying he knows Chase made a mistake but he will continue to stand with his star wideout.

“I’ve always been impressed with how Ja’Marr has handled himself, because he is in a lot of these situations where he’s got a target as a top player,” Taylor said.

Taylor said Chase crossed a line with the incident involving Ramsey and added that Chase will own up to the mistake.

“Obviously what happened is crossing a line, we can’t have that, and I know he will own up to that,” Taylor said. “Beyond that, I’ve always sat up here and praised Ja’Marr because he is one of the best leaders we’ve got.”

Chase’s suspension is at least the second one handed out this year due to a player spitting at or towards another. In the NFL’s season opener, Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter spat on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott before the first offensive snap of the game.

Carter was issued a one-game suspension.
