SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – NFL schedule release videos have become all football fans can talk about this time of year. Wednesday night, the Falcons released a Mario Kart-themed video. And whether they’ve thought about this or not, it actually might be a sign of good things to come.
Mario Kart was released in the late 1990’s — the same time Atlanta made it to their first Super Bowl after a 14-2 season.
The Dirty Birds would love to see that history repeat itself this year, but they’ll have to get past their 18 opponents for that to happen. The 2025 slate includes a season opener against a divisional opponent, five prime-time games, and of course, their international matchup in Germany against the Colts.
We caught up with Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo at Georgia Southern graduation on Wednesday, where he said he had already circled the trip to Europe.
“Those are cool trips,” said Koo. “We played in London a couple of times, so when you’re going through it, it’s like you’re pretty much surviving on caffeine and adrenaline at the time, but I look back, and it’s a pretty cool trip, so I’m really excited for that. Hopefully we can get a better routine so it’s not too groggy, but it’s definitely a cool opportunity to grow the game and go overseas and play some football.”
