The Denver Broncos toppled the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday with a last-second game-winning field goal at Empower Field at Mile High. Throughout the game, the CBS broadcast camera was rocking because of the noise, and the silent cadence the Chiefs had to use contributed to a few offensive penalties. Denver coach Sean Payton challenged Broncos Country to be loud, and they answered his call.

“I thought our fans were outstanding,” Payton said after a thrilling 22-19 win. “It felt loud to me, and I say this respectfully, for the first time since I’ve been here, but really loud. I think that helped.”

Broncos quarterback Bo Nix agreed. “I thought there were some critical moments to where it got really loud,” Nix said. “Obviously, a home field advantage is second to none against a really good team like that and against a good offense. When you play at home and when you have a crowd factor like that, it’s huge. It can be really important, and it can play a difference. It can play a big role and tonight they were definitely loud at times. It was rocking.”

Predictably, the biggest cheers occurred on the final offensive drive, as Nix and Co. converted two crucial third downs before Wil Lutz hit the game-winning field goal. The Broncos‘ social media team tweeted out the reaction of the fans in the stands as the football split the uprights. Reactions were likely the same in living rooms across the country!

The Broncos now head into a much-needed and well-deserved bye week, before facing the Washington Commanders in front of a national audience in Week 13 on November 30.
