The Buffalo Bills know they will travel to face the Houston Texans in Week 12 for a “Thursday Night Football” game.

What the Bills (7-3) do not know is which quarterback the Texans (5-5) will start.

A report suggests it will be Davis Mills.

Starting quarterback CJ Stroud, 24, has missed two-straight game as he recovers from a concussion. On Monday, Stroud did not practice because of the injury and a report indicates Stroud will not be healthy enough to return to face the Bills.

Per KPRC2 in Houston, Stroud is “not scheduled” to face Buffalo:

KPRC2 further added:

“Although Stroud is feeling better with symptoms of sensitivity to light and headaches subsiding, per sources, the timing of the game and the requirement of practicing twice with no symptoms and being cleared by an independent neurologist has a negative impact on his availability.”

While Stroud is the Texans’ clear starting quarterback, Mills has had plenty of successes in 2025. Specifically, he is 2-0 filling in for Stroud as Houston has won back-to-back games heading to their matchup with Buffalo.

Houston has not officially ruled Stroud out for Thursday against the Bills, but the short week will certainly complicate that possibility.
