The Los Angeles Rams could be without one of their key offensive players down the stretch.
Starting tight end Tyler Higbee injured his ankle in the Week 11 win over the Seattle Seahawks, and head coach Sean McVay told reporters the team isn’t sure how serious the injury is or how long Higbee will be out.
It’s unclear when the injury occurred, but losing Higbee for any period of time would be a blow to the offense. This is Higbee’s eighth season with the Rams, where he’s played a huge role as a blocker and as a receiver for L.A.
This season, Higbee has been a bit of an afterthought in the stats column with most of the offense funneling through Davante Adams, Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams. Stafford has also spread out the ball when not targeting either of his three mainstays. Higbee is fourth on the team in receptions with 20 and third in receiving yards with 190. Higbee also has two touchdowns.
If Higbee misses time, that should open up more opportunities for the other tight ends like Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen and rookie Terrance Ferguson. While Week 11 wasn’t a great showing for Ferguson and the rest of the tight ends, a Week 12 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be a great chance for Ferguson to pop off in his first NFL season.
