Atlanta was defeated by Carolina in Week 11.
The Atlanta Falcons fell to 0-3 against NFC South teams following Sunday’s 30-27 overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers. Not only have the Falcons lost five games in a row, but the Panthers have essentially buried them in the division standings.
After 11 weeks, the NFC South has become a two-team race between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Panthers. Despite starting 0-2, Carolina is now in a position to steal the division at 6-5. The Buccaneers were defeated by the Buffalo Bills in Week 11, falling to 6-4 on the season.
While the Bucs are still in first place, they no longer have a comfortable lead over the rest of the division. Meanwhile, the Falcons have fallen so far that they could actually be overtaken by the 2-8 New Orleans Saints this weekend.
The Saints host the Falcons in Week 12 and the winner will be in third place. Check out the updated NFC South standings entering Week 12 below:

Atlanta is in rough shape after placing quarterback Michael Penix Jr. on the injured reserve list. Kirk Cousins will step in for the next four games while Penix recovers from a knee injury. The Falcons could also be without wide receiver Drake London, who injured his knee in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.
London is considered day-to-day, but head coach Raheem Morris said he would have a better idea when practice begins this week. The Falcons will face the Saints this Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET inside Caesars Superdome.
