REDDING, Calif. — Simpson University is calling on aspiring football players to attend a tryout camp this Saturday as the Red Hawks prepare to join the Frontier Conference. Head Coach Shawn Daniel is eager to bolster the team’s roster to meet the new challenges ahead.
“It is really great getting local kids. Freshman, Sophomore, Juniors that are in high school to just kind of, get the word out. Still building the program, starting year two, and so it is exciting to just get it out for the Northstate. About 70 kids are showing up on Saturday,” said Daniel.
The tryout camp will take place on the Simpson football practice field from 9 a.m. to noon. Interested players are encouraged to attend and potentially become part of the Red Hawks. Last year, the tryout resulted in the signing of four or five players, according to Daniel.
