Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike Tomlin weighed in on Ja’Marr Chase spitting in the face of Jalen Ramsey — refusing to regard the moment as a teachable moment for one of the league’s fiercest defensive backs.

On Tuesday, Tomlin was asked for comment on Ramsey’s situation with Chase — specifically questioned on what message he gave to the outspoken defender on how to remove himself from confrontations such as that one. And Tomlin provided a 14-word response in defense of Ramsey.

“I have no message if someone spits in your face,” Tomlin said. “Do what comes natural.”

Truer words have never been spoken.

Ramsey’s brash demeanor has always been the subject of controversy, but as many — including the reporter likely asking this baited question — clearly know, it’s no excuse to spit in another person’s face.

With the NFL handing down a one-game suspension to Chase, the Steelers can put this ugly situation behind them to focus on their Week 12 matchup vs. the Chicago Bears.
