The Arizona Cardinals are at the lowest of lows this season. The Cardinals have lost two straight games by an average of more than 20 points, but coach Jonathan Gannon has a message for the fanbase.

To make matters worse, both losses have come to teams within the NFC West division, and they’re not even leading to a division title. Arizona has lost seven of its last eight games, and it still has multiple playoff teams on its remaining schedule, including the NFC West-leading Los Angeles Rams, whom it will face twice.

Jonathan Gannon’s Message to Cardinals Fans

After the Cardinals lost to the San Francisco 49ers, 41-22, Gannon took accountability for the loss. He did so after Arizona’s beatdown in Seattle against the Seahawks a week prior as well.

He’s the head coach, and he’s said multiple times that it all falls on him. However, it continues to fall on him over and over again, and there hasn’t been much improvement. After taking accountability for the loss on Sunday, Gannon sent a message to the Cardinals’ fan base on Monday.

“Stick with us. We’ll get it turned around.” Gannon said. He said it with a sly smile, and it’s pretty ironic because that’s not some powerful message that gives a hopeless fanbase signs that things will work out.

However, at this point, Gannon may feel like there’s nothing he can say to make Cardinals fans believe he’ll get the team turned around. He knows the recent games have been terrible, and simply put, there’s a lot that needs to be fixed.

Arizona ranks No. 22 in the NFL, according to PFSN’s Defense Impact, and No. 27 in sack percentage.

The Cardinals started the year with five straight C grades, but have been graded D or worse in four of their last five games. Arizona put up its best defensive performance of the year in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys, earning a B grade against one of the best offenses in the NFL.

However, each of the last two weeks, the Cardinals have given up more than 40 points and earned D and D+ grades, ranking eighth-worst and seventh-worst in the NFL, respectively.

On the offensive side, the numbers have improved, but it hasn’t translated to the scoreboard. The Cardinals’ offense ranks No. 20 in the NFL, according to PFSN’s Offense Impact, and gives up the 10th-highest sack percentage.

Arizona’s offense has consistently earned a C grade throughout the year, with its worst performance coming in Week 10 against the Seahawks, earning a D+ grade.

The Cardinals earned they’re highest offensive grade last week against the 49ers because of their high-yardage day. However, the Cardinals had three turnovers, and their penalties held them back from capitalizing on those yards gained.

Gannon’s message was short and direct to the fanbase, but will it inspire any hope? The Cardinals need to generate some sort of positivity on the field before the fan base regains confidence in their team.

Arizona will welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars to State Farm Stadium on Sunday, who just blew out the Los Angeles Chargers, in an attempt to get back on track.
