American singer Karina Pasian said she was completely caught off guard by criticism over her outfit during her national anthem performance before the Commanders-Dolphins game in Spain on Sunday.
The Grammy nominee — who wore a vintage Marc Jacobs mini dress, thigh-high stockings and garters — told TMZ Sports that the NFL approved her ensemble days prior to kickoff.
Although she “loved” her outfit, Pasian apologized “if anyone felt offended” by her cabaret-inspired look.

“They approved my outfit a few days before. It was all approved by the NFL,” Pasian, 34, said.
“I’m really sorry if anyone felt offended by it, but it wasn’t my intention. My intention was to have a good time. I loved my outfit!”
Pasian’s sultry outfit at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid had the internet buzzing.
Some believed it was too was risqué for the NFL’s first international game in Spain.
Taking to Instagram, Pasian shared a behind-the-scenes video of her stylists getting her ready before the “Star Spangled Banner” performance.
“BTS!! ahhh i loooveeedddd my outfit!!!!” Pasian wrote, adding that she didn’t want to take it off. “i worked with my amazing stylists @soydeir & @adrianldasilva to bring my vision to life!!! they turned this beautiful vintage @marcjacobs dress into their own unique piece!!!”
Pasian is a New York City native now living in Madrid.

“It’s such an honor to represent my country in the place i now call home,” she added.
The Dolphins beat the Commanders, 16-13, in an overtime thriller.
