NFL Week 11 Bengals Vs. Steelers post game review

Bengals Beat Reporter Kelsey Conway discusses the Bengals loss to the Steelers

The Cincinnati Bengals are playing their NFL Week 12 game against the New England Patriots at Paycor Stadium without star receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

Chase was suspended for one game for spitting on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey during their altercation in Pittsburgh’s 34-12 Week 11 win.

Chase appealed the suspension, which was upheld.

Chase denied spitting on Ramsey, but Ramsey said Chase spit on him before Ramsey was ejected, and Fox 19 video via Twitter/X of the incident supported Ramsey’s claim.

“During the fourth quarter, Chase spit on Pittsburgh cornerback Jalen Ramsey, violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to ‘any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship,'” the NFL said in a statement announcing Chase’s suspension.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said he thought Chase should get an automatic two-game suspension.

The Enquirer’s Pat Brennan wrote that the Bengals could lean on a host of players in Chase’s absence, including Andrei Iosivas, Chase Brown, Mike Gesicki, Charlie Jones and Mitch Tinsley.

“Ja’Marr’s one of my favorite players. I love how this guy handles everything that he’s been a part of, so making one mistake doesn’t disregard everything this guy’s done that’s been positive for us,” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said.

Was Ja’Marr Chase ejected for spitting on Jalen Ramsey?

Referee Bill Vinovich told a pool reporter after the game that officials did not see Chase spit on Ramsey.

Earlier in the game, Ramsey wasn’t penalized for hitting Chase late during the second quarter. CBS analyst Trent Green said during the broadcast he thought Ramsey should have been flagged.
