Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have a tall task ahead of them in Week 12 of the 2025 NFL season, hosting Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium. The two AFC teams haven’t met in three years, when the Colts, led by quarterback Matt Ryan, defeated the Chiefs 20-17 during the 2022 season.
The Chiefs haven’t had the season they hoped for so far. Through 10 games, they’ve fallen to 5–5 and are on a two-game losing streak, with recent losses to the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos. The Colts, meanwhile, have been one of the more surprising teams of 2025, sitting near the top of the AFC standings at 8–2.

For the Week 12 matchup between the Chiefs and Colts, the NFL assigned Alex Moore as the game’s head official. Moore spent his first three seasons in the league as an umpire before being promoted to referee for 2025. This will be the Chiefs’ first game with Moore as the head official.
Overall, Moore has called 59 games in his officiating career, including 10 as a head referee. As an umpire from 2022-24, he worked three Kansas City games, all Chiefs wins. Most recently, he officiated their victory over the Carolina Panthers in November 2024. And on Sunday, Moore called the Buffalo Bills’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“First-year referee Alex Moore will be the ref for Chiefs vs. Colts,” Chiefs reporter Farzin Vousoughian wrote on X. “It’s his first ever Chiefs game as the head official.”
Mahomes and the Chiefs will host Jones and the Colts on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS, with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call.
