With the 2025 NFL draft exactly one month away, the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves playing a waiting game. They’re waiting to see what future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers decides to do.

Right now, the Steelers are viewed as a “safe bet” to end up signing Rodgers. However, he has not made his final decision yet.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk issued the “safe bet” update on Rodgers and Pittsburgh.

“Regardless, the signs are pointing to Rodgers landing in Pittsburgh for 2025,” Florio said. “Could it change? Yes. Again, it’s a ‘safe bet’ it won’t.”

At this point in time, the Steelers are stuck. They don’t have an ideal starting quarterback on the roster and they hold the No. 21 pick in the draft, which may not be high enough to land an elite talent.

One former teammate of Rodgers delivered a harsh reality check to Pittsburgh on the situation it finds itself in.

James Jones, who was one of Rodgers’ favorite wide receivers for many years, spoke out about the Steelers’ current dilemma.

During an appearance on “The Facility,” Jones made it clear that the Steelers have “no choice” but to wait on Rodgers.

“It’s too late because you already showed Aaron Rodgers, we are waiting on you,” Jones said. “We done told all these quarterbacks. We done told Russell Wilson, no. We done lost out on all these quarterbacks. So, the only option left to do if you want to try to have a productive season is to bring in Aaron Rodgers. So you have to wait. You have to wait on Aaron Rodgers.”

Rodgers put together a strong 2024 season with the New York Jets. He completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. If he were to sign with Pittsburgh, he would have two elite weapons in DK Metcalf and George Pickens to work with.
