Kevin Austin Jr. is officially back on the New Orleans Saints 53 man roster. The former Birmingham Stallions wideout was signed from the practice squad on Wednesday, replacing Brandin Cooks who was released by New Orleans.
Kevin Austin Jr. was an offseason addition for the Birmingham Stallions heading into the UFL’s inaugural season. He joined a loaded WR room in Training Camp, but impressed enough to make the roster.
Austin wasn’t utilized a lot early on in the year. However, as the season went on, Kevin earned a starting role in the offense, showing up in big moments. For example, in week seven, Austin ripped off a massive touchdown to put Birmingham on top, as they took down the St. Louis Battlehawks.
Kevin Austin finished the UFL season with 253 yards and two touchdowns. Kevin’s got the ability to play on special teams as well, with six tackles for the Stallions in 2024. His speed and route running abilities caught the eye of the New Orleans Saints, who brought him in for a workout, and then signed him in Training Camp.
Austin ended up being active for eight games during the NFL’s 2024-2025 season, recording 11 receptions for 151 yards.

He has primarily remained on the practice squad throughout this season, activated for one game. Now, he’s officially signed to the roster – which means we should see more of Kevin Austin throughout the rest of the year in New Orleans.
