Any extra incentive for Aaron Rodgers to play this weekend given then opponent — the Chicago Bears?

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is currently battling a wrist injury that has his status up in the air for Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago Bears, but he’s itching to play.

The long-time Green Bay Packers quarterback, who has a 12-3 record at Soldier Field from 2008-22, was injured in last week’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but there’s still a clear path for him to face his long-time rival once again.

When asked if there was any extra motivation to face the team in which he’s had plenty of success against, Rodgers said there’s incentive for every opponent and reflected on what he’s done against Chicago.

“There’s incentive for every opponent,” Rodgers said. “But I have enjoyed many a Sunday and Monday and many Thursdays in that city. It’s a great sports town, phenomenal sports fans. Great place to play.”

Rodgers added that he doesn’t want to be seen as a villain in Chicago anymore.

“I’d rather not be, I’m not in Green Bay anymore,” he said. “I feel like we can let bygones be bygones maybe, I can, I guess.”

It may be hard for Bears fans to let go of the history between Rodgers and Chicago, especially as he would add the recent success Green Bay has had, including after he left and Jordan Love took over as the Packers top quarterback.

“There’s been some great memories there,” Rodgers said. “When I first got to Green Bay the Bears had the all-time series lead. When I left, Packers did. Since J Love has taken over it’s even gotten better. Hope those fans can put that behind them, I’m sure they can’t, don’t expect ’em to, but I really enjoy the city.”

The rivalry is certainly not going away any time soon between Chicago and Rodgers, and with a crucial matchup for both the Bears and Steelers and their respective divisions, his presence would make a world of difference in their Week 12 matchup.
