Nolan Bianchi, Richard Silva, John Niyo and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News offer predictions for Sunday’s game between the Lions and New York Giants at Ford Field in Detroit (1 p.m., FOX/97.1).

▶ Nolan Bianchi: The Giants are a welcome sight for a team that’s looking to get back on track before a pivotal Thanksgiving showdown against the Packers. Gunslinger Jameis Winston, who’s expected to start at quarterback for New York, is an interesting matchup for a Lions defense that gave up some explosive plays against Washington’s backup quarterback but mostly shut down the Eagles on Sunday night. Defensively, the Giants have massively underwhelmed given the talent they have up front, but still represent a tough test for an offensive line that can’t take anything for granted right now. Ultimately, this is a quintessential get-right spot, and I expect the Lions to do just that. Pick: Lions, 35-21

▶ John Niyo: The sky isn’t falling. And the streak isn’t ending. Dan Campbell and the Lions haven’t lost consecutive games in over three years, and with the 2-9 Giants coming to town this week they’ll make it 14 bounce-back wins in a row. The Giants have lost five games in a row, 12 straight on the road, and recently sacked their head coach. They played hard in a narrow loss to Green Bay last week, but the Lions are eager to get their offense back on track after that frustrating night in Philly. And this New York team seems the ideal get-right opponent for Jared Goff and his new play-caller, because the Giants rank 30th in the NFL in run defense and 31st in takeaways. So long as the pass protection holds up, that should make for a relatively easy game of keepaway for the Lions ahead of their Thanksgiving showdown with Green Bay. Pick: Lions, 34-17

▶ Richard Silva: The Giants are plucky. But they’re also 2-9, one game ahead (behind?) of the Tennessee Titans for the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Jameis Winston won’t be shy in giving his receivers a chance, and the names on New York’s defensive front are fearsome, despite middle-of-the-road production. I think the offense bounces back in a big way. The Giants have struggled to stop the run in recent weeks (opposing running backs have averaged 4.9 yards per carry since Week 9), and reserve cornerbacks Deonte Banks and Korie Black haven’t been performing well in relief of Paulson Adebo, who hasn’t played since Week 6. Give me the Lions, and a lot of points. Pick: Lions, 35-21

▶ Bob Wojnowski: If the season ended today — checked the calendar; nope, not today — the 6-4 Lions would miss the playoffs. That doesn’t call for panic. It calls for heightened focus, because if they don’t beat the 2-9 Giants, you’re allowed to panic. Dan Campbell is adjusting to life without a dominant offensive line, which means he needs to play to the growing strength of the defense. First-time coordinator Kelvin Sheppard is putting different guys in different roles and letting them excel. His linebacker trio of Jack Campbell, Derrick Barnes and Alex Anzalone must control the game. The Lions haven’t lost two in a row in three years, and Jared Goff almost always bounces right back. The Giants have some playmakers on defense, led by Brian Burns, so it’s imperative the Lions’ line is sharper, giving Goff a chance to be sharper. The Lions don’t need more fourth-down gambles. They need a lot more third-down conversions. Pick: Lions, 27-10
