RB Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars at ARI ($4,600)
Jacksonville ran all over a solid Chargers run defense last week en route to a 35-6 victory. Head coach Liam Coen will likely opt for a similar game plan against the last place Cardinals on Sunday. As always, starting running back Travis Etienne Jr. ($5.900) was a force. However, backup Bhayshul Tuten also played a major role for the Jaguars. Against Arizona, the rookie ran for 74 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. During the contest, Tuten commanded 32% of the team’s offensive snaps.
On paper, Sunday represents a far easier matchup for Jacksonville’s backfield. Arizona has surrendered the tenth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs. In addition, the Cardinals have given up ten rushing touchdowns, tied for the fourth-worst mark in football. Tuten, with two scores over his last three outings, has become an important piece on offense. Running back is the most difficult position to find value in fantasy football. That makes Tuten a potential steal at his current price tag.
WR Darius Slayton, New York Giants at DET ($4,500)
Jameis Winston ($4,600) is slated for his second straight start. Against Green Bay last week, the veteran threw for only 201 yards and no toucdowns. That’s a far cry from what we’ve come to expect from the gunslinger. Sunday’s matchup, inside a dome against the high-powered Lions, should lead to more big passing plays. That means increased production from New York’s two best wideouts, Wan’Dale Robinson ($5,500) and Darius Slayton.
The former of the two is more of a possession receiver, working between the 20s. It’s a different story for Slayton, a true boom-or-bust option on the outside. Granted, it’s not as if the veteran has had terrific passers throwing him the ball. During his previous two contests, the 28-year-old tallied nine total catches for 151 yards. This week’s opponents, the Lions, are allowing the 13th-most fantasy points to wide receivers. Slayton should stay busy against a middling secondary.
RB Devin Neal, New Orleans Saints at ATL ($4,300)
If you haven’t been keeping up with the Saints, you’re forgiven. However, a once-stagnant offense has looked better under the leadership of rookie quarterback Tyler Shough ($4,400). That means increased value for most of his teammates, including Alvin Kamara ($5,500). With that being said, the veteran running back’s production has been mediocre at best this season. To make matters worse, he’s currently questionable to play due to an ankle injury.
Even if Kamara does suit up, New Orleans has no reason to give him a massive workload. If anyone else is poised for usage out of the backfield, it’s Devin Neal. The rookie hasn’t done much this season, notching 17 total touches for 64 yards. Still, he’s garnered a snap share between 35% and 46% over the past three weeks. Sunday’s opponent, the Falcons, have coughed up the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs. Given his dirt-cheap cost at $4,200, Neal is an enticing dart throw for fantasy football managers.
