After the Kansas City Chiefs ended their season with a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, superstar tight end Travis Kelce considered retirement. Now, after this season, he has confirmed that he yet again has a decision to make.

Kelce is in the final year of his contract with the Chiefs, and it has been widely speculated that he would once again consider retirement this offseason, especially considering that he was close to retirement last year.

In some recent comments, Kelce confirmed that he will once again consider retirement during the offseason and added a bit of a timeline for when he thinks that decision will come.

Kelce made it clear that he would make his decision before free agency begins, indicating that if he signs another contract and returns to the NFL, it would only be with the Chiefs.

“Seeing my brother go through it, and seeing how the league works, the season re-starts in April, and I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity, whether I come back or not, and vice versa — whether they want me back or not,” Kelce said according to Pro Football Talk.

“I’d like to make that decision before they’ve got to get draft picks and free agency opens or gives them an opportunity to fill the roster appropriately. All that will be at the end of the season. I won’t be thinking about it until then,” Kelce continued.

Kelce is obviously still one of the most dominant tight ends in the league and has bounced back nicely this year after a disappointing season last year. If he wanted to return, it’s clear that he is still capable of playing at a high level.

At the same time, Kelce has a high-profile relationship with fiancée Taylor Swift and has already established a bit of a career for himself in the entertainment world.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Kelce decides to do, but it is now clear that a decision on his future is indeed coming.
