The New York Jets took their new-look offense down to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12 but came up short.

The Jets (2-9) lost a 23-10 final on Sunday to the Ravens (6-5) at M&T Bank Stadium.

With all the recent changes that went down in New York, this one was another interesting outing for the Jets. There were plenty of observations to be made.

With that, here are Jets Wire’s five takeaways from the Jets’ loss to the Ravens:

Tyrod’s first go

The noted change referenced before was the decision to bench quarterback Justin Fields for veteran backup Tyrod Taylor.

It wasn’t a win in the end, but the Jets got competent quarterback play and… who knew? It helped.

Taylor kept the Jets in the game, particularly in the first half, despite being big underdogs in Baltimore. Clearly it helped the offense, but the New York’s defense looked like they were boosted by it too.

Taylor finished 17-for-28 passing with 222 yards, a touchdown and interception. The QB extended plays with his legs too, rushing for 19 yards on five carries.

Strong first half

Speaking of the first half, it was only the second time in 2025 that the Jets had a lead at halftime, a 7-3 score. Kudos goes to both sides of the ball for making that happen.

The offense put the Jets up a 7-0 lead with four minutes on the clock before the half. Defensively, New York kept the Ravens offense led by quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry as silent as one could imagine.

That changed but a good sign.

Showed some willingness

It did not pay off, but what is likely connected to Taylor starting was some of the aggressiveness the Jets tried.

At the top, New York was 0-for-2 on fourth down. One early in the second half ended up being a touchdown swing for the Ravens but the willingness is what stood out.

Sure, the Jets are out of the postseason picture. But they have been for weeks and consistently played it safe before starting Taylor.

New guys got involved

Following acquisitions at the trade deadline, the Jets finally appeared to give some new guys more opportunity. That likely took place throughout the lineup, but here’s a first-half breakdown of wide receiver snaps for the offense, led by new additions AD Mitchell and John Metchie III (who scored a touchdown):

#Jets WR snaps at half:

Mitchell 27
Metchie 26
Lazard 13
Smith 12
Williams 8

The new guys have taken over.

In the end, it’s a 60-minute game.

Running back Breece Hall was rolling for the Jets offense. His costly fumble could’ve lost his team a chance at a win and certainly made sure the game was over.

Hall was leading the way for an entire drive. He ate up chunks of yards in the passing game and then dropped the ball at the goal line. Not a good look for him.
