GLENDALE – In the first time in 25 years, the Arizona Cardinals were a +4 in the turnover battle, and they lost. There are plenty of factors leading to the 27-24 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The most ample of those being the atrocious play of the offensive line. The Jaguars ranked 30th in sacks per game and 28th in sacks percentage. In Week 12, Arizona made the Jacksonville pass rush look like the 85′ Bears, recording six sacks.

Where did it go wrong for the Cardinals’ offensive line?

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett was pressured on 44.8% of his dropbacks and had to use his feet multiple times to expand plays. For a non-mobile QB, those attempts rarely led to positive plays for the offense. The Jaguars averaged 1.5 sacks per game entering Sunday, with their team season-high being three. Their pass rush doubled that and had five of the six sacks come from players with zero sacks recorded on the season.

The Cardinals have been dismantled due to injuries, losing starting right tackle Jonah Williams for the year due to shoulder surgery. Then, guard Will Hernandez exited Sunday’s game due to a back injury, forcing Arizona to put players like undrafted free agent Josh Fryar in positions he has never been in before.
The offensive line had players that have never started a game in the NFL and it showed, allowing an objectively bad pass rush dominated in the trenches. Week 12 will be an eyeopener for the franchise to try and find improvements this offseason for this front.
