The Green Bay Packers’ defense has been the main reason they have been able to win games. Green Bay’s defense put on an elite performance in their 23-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12.

One player who has stood out on the Packers’ defense is cornerback Carrington Valentine. Over the last three games, Valentine has only allowed two receptions for 15 yards with 10 targets in 87 coverage snaps. He also has a pass breakup and has allowed a 40.5 passer rating in this span.

These are impressive numbers for Valentine, who has proven to be a quality outside corner for the Packers. Free agency Nate Hobbs was struggling on the outside before he went down with an injury, but Valentine has filled the void opposite Keisean Nixon.

Green Bay drafted Valentine in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has turned into a productive starter.

The 24-year-old has held his own, even when matched up against an opposing team’s best wide receiver. Valentine was targeted twice when lined up against Justin Jefferson in Week 12 and didn’t allow a reception.

The Packers’ strength on defense has been their defensive line, led by superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons. Parsons and Green Bay’s pass rush is what opposing offenses gameplan against, as they can disrupt a game.

Rashan Gary, Devonte Wyatt, and Lukas Van Ness complement Parsons in rushing the quarterback.

The Packers’ run defense has been impressive as well, as they’ve given up the sixth-fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL.

However, if Valentine and the secondary continue to play at a high level, it will make the defense a complete unit on this stretch run.

The Packers have the talent to win the Super Bowl, as their defense has been one of the best units in the league. However, the offensive inconsistencies and struggles on special teams need to be fixed.

While Valentine started out as a seventh-round pick, he has developed into the Packers’ best boundary corner. He has secured his spot on Green Bay’s defense, even when Hobbs is cleared to return from his injury.
