Ji’Ayir Brown secured his first piece of NFL hardware.
The 49ers’ third-year safety was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his two-interception game in San Francisco’s 20-9 win over the Carolina Panthers on Monday night at Levi’s Stadium.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs won the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week award, while Atlanta Falcons kicker Zane Gonzales won the Special Teams Player of the Week award.
Over in the AFC, Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and New England Patriots kicker Andy Borregales won the Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams awards, respectively.
The 25-year-old Brown has returned to a starting role in San Francisco’s secondary this season after an up-and-down start to his NFL career, and has played well in recent games.
His performance in prime time, and this latest honor, should provide him plenty of confidence moving forward.
