Detroit Lions warn fans to expect heavy Thanksgiving Day traffic, urge early arrival

  • November 27, 2025

DETROIT – The Detroit Lions are strongly encouraging fans to arrive early for the Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field.

Gates at Ford Field will open at 10:30 a.m. EST, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on Thursday (Nov. 27).

Fans should prepare for road closures due to multiple Thanksgiving events in downtown Detroit, including the 2025 America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner White and the Strategic Staffing Solutions Turkey Trot Races.

The Turkey Trot 10K starts at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Stuffing Strut 5K at 8:30 a.m.

The parade begins at 8:45 a.m. on Woodward Avenue near Kirby Street and lasts about 1.5 hours, ending near Congress Street.

Guests coming to the game are advised to exit the freeway at Woodward Avenue, where they plan to park.

For those parking near Ford Field, exit on the east side of Woodward Avenue.

Note that the QLINE streetcar will not operate on Thanksgiving Day due to Woodward Avenue closures.

The Detroit People Mover will run from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., with free rides for all passengers.

Fans are encouraged to arrive when gates open for Power Hour, presented by Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, featuring food and drink specials at BLITZ, Miller Lite One Pride Pub, Bud Light Party Zone, and Corner Bar.

Fans can also meet the Detroit Lions cheerleaders and participate in activities throughout the stadium.

Pride Plaza will open at 10 a.m. with tailgate games, food trucks, and more.

The national broadcast will be live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. across from Ford Field’s Gate A in front of Comerica Park.

Fans will receive a commemorative Thanksgiving Day rally towel upon entry, courtesy of Ford Motor Company, while supplies last.

All fans will also get a light-up wristband at their seat to participate in the Lions Light Show. Wristbands are available at Guest Service booths if you have lost yours.
