Takeaways from the Packers’ Thanksgiving Day win against the Lions
Pete Dougherty joins Dominique Yates to recap the Green Bay Packers’ 31-24 road victory over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.
This Thanksgiving meal had to taste extra satisfying for Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers.
Two years ago they were snubbed of the customary turkey legs after beating the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, something that didn’t go unnoticed by many on the team.
Love and Co. returned to Ford Field on the holiday on Thursday, Nov. 27.
And Love and the Packers again defeated the Lions. This time by a 31-24 score behind Matt LaFleur’s aggressive decision-making, Dontayvion Wicks’ breakout game and an attacking defensive effort led by Micah Parsons.
This year, they’re coming home full following a huge feast to complete a sweep of the Lions this season.
Love, awarded the Madden Thanksgiving MVP, was joined on the field after the win by the dominant Parsons, Josh Jacobs, Rasheed Walker, Rashan Gary and others for the post-game meal.
“It’s special, it’s a big time stage to come out here and get a win on Thanksgiving,” Love said. “I’m grateful for all these guys, grateful for everybody in the locker room, whole team we just got to keep rolling.”
Love certainly is on a roll on Thanksgiving.
He has played on Thanksgiving every year during his time as the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.
Not only have the Packers won each time [Green Bay also beat the Miami Dolphins last year at home], but Love has shined.
Jordan Love stats
Across three Thanksgiving games, Love has completed 67.8% of his passes for 776 yards, nine touchdowns, 0 interceptions and a 126.3 passer rating.
In Thursday’s win, Love completed 18 of 30 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns and zero interceptions for a 124.2 rating.
It was Love’s first four-touchdown game of the season.
His precision led to three successful fourth down conversions, two for touchdowns and one to seal the game in the closing moments.
