“Where’s Ricky Sanders?”

There he is, catching Doug Williams’ 80-yard bomb in stride for the Redskins’ first score of Super Bowl XXII.

On Sunday, the Washington Commanders are honoring a historic Washington Redskins victory.

How so? Well, the Commanders will wear their Super Bowl-era uniforms for Sunday night’s home contest against the Denver Broncos. Super Bowl XXII MVP Doug Williams and former DEs Dexter Manley and Charles Mann will be honorary captains.

For those like myself (I was age 24), old enough to recall, the Redskins faced the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII, played in beautiful San Diego, to capture the 1987 season championship. Denver jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but on Washington’s first series of the second quarter, Williams found Ricky Sanders down the right sideline for an 80-yard touchdown, setting loose “The Hogs” and the rest of the Washington offense. The Redskins scored five touchdowns over five consecutive offensive possessions for a 35-10 halftime lead, before coasting in the second half to a 42-10 Super Bowl victory.

Commanders- Broncos is sold out for tomorrow.

Washington will wear their alternate uniforms, a tribute to the team’s Super Bowl Era in the 1980s and 1990s.

Following last week’s news, the Commanders are raising ticket prices for 2026, it’s nice to see that the Harris Ownership Group is doing something for the fans on Sunday night against the Broncos. They will be offering Super Bowl Era pricing. It’s important that fans realize this pricing will be available in SeatGeek Legends Plaza. $0.75 will get fans a soda, $1.00 will buy them popcorn, and $1.75 will get them a hot dog. There will be a limit of two per person. The Commanders followed a similar pricing plan in Week 9 against the Seahawks.

The Commanders enter the game at 3-8, while the Broncos are leading the AFC West at 9-2 and are currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff bracket.
