TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – A student at Texas College in Tyler received a message that would make a childhood dream come true.
Choir member Angel Cummings was asked to perform the national anthem before the Sunday night football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans on Dec. 7.
The Kansas City native shared what led to this amazing opportunity.
“They saw a video of me singing the national anthem at a Texas College football game, and they commented on the video and they were like, what’s your email? We want to get in contact with you,” Cummings said. “And so they got in contact with my mom, and they invited me to come sing at the game on December 7th.”
Cummings said she hopes this opportunity will help her connect with people and open doors.
“People are always looking for like a big break,” Cummings said. “And I’m not saying that this is my big break, but I think that it’s something that is definitely going to open a lot of doors for me along the lines or down the line, like in the future.”
She explained that she is proud to be from Kansas City and a fan of the Chiefs.
“.I think being from Kansas City, there’s like a certain level of pride that you have when it comes to the Chiefs and game days already, and so now everything is just heightened and I have very high expectations,” Cummings said. “I think the Chiefs are going to win, but I’m just so excited to even be in Arrowhead.”
