The Atlanta Falcons have elevated wide receiver Deven Thompkins from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s road game against the New York Jets. The team also signed edge rusher Khalid Kareem to the practice squad just days after releasing him from the 53-man roster.
Thompkins, a former undrafted free agent out of Utah State, has spent his entire NFL career in the NFC South. After spending two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2023-2024), Thompkins appeared in seven games for the Carolina Panthers in 2024.
While the 25-year-old has put up modest numbers as a wide receiver — recording 26 catches for 135 receiving yards and one touchdown — he’s been productive as a return man over his four NFL seasons. Thompkins has returned 33 kickoffs for 724 total yards, and 36 punts for 314 yards.
Kareem has appeared in 31 career games (one start), recording 35 tackles (18 solo), one sack and one forced fumble. Check out the Falcons’ updated 53-man roster and practice squad entering their Week 13 matchup against the Jets.
