New York Jets cornerback and special teamer Kris Boyd said he has been readmitted to the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen on November 16.
“Please [bear] with me, I haven’t been in communication much … I was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues,” Boyd wrote in an Instagram story.
“I love and appreciate everyone of ya’ll dearly who has prayed/reached out even if I can’t get back to you!”
“The last that we heard is he had an issue, and he had to go back into the hospital,” Jets coach Aaron Glenn told reporters on Friday regarding Boyd’s health. “But other than that, I need to figure that out.”
While the New York Police Department identified a suspect last week, an NYPD spokesperson told ESPN’s Rich Cimini that the investigation remains ongoing and that no arrests have been made.
The shooting took place around 2 a.m. local time, and he was immediately brought to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
While dining at Sei Less, an Asian fusion restaurant on West 38th Street, the former Houston Texan was out with Jets defensive captain Jamien Sherwood and special teamer Irvin Charles when a nearby group began mocking their dressed-up look, law enforcement officials told the New York Post, and the situation quickly escalated.
Boyd is now back in the hospital as doctors address his unspecified health issues, and police say the shooting is still under investigation with no arrests made in relation to the incident as of Friday morning.
