Sunday Night Football for Week 13 features the Denver Broncos (9-2) visiting the Washington Commanders (3-8). Two teams headed in opposite directions will square off, with one battling for home-field advantage in the playoffs and the other just trying to make it through the season.
Denver continued its winning ways last week, defeating Kansas City, 22-19, for an eighth consecutive win. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix passed for 295 yards in the victory, and the defense showed up big once again, holding the Chiefs to 19 points, sacking Patrick Mahomes three times, and forcing one interception. Denver will want to build on its comfortable two-game lead over the Chargers in the AFC West with a ninth straight win in Week 13.

This has not been the season Commanders head coach Dan Quinn envisioned coming off a trip to the NFC title game last season. Injuries have done a number on Washington, having lost six in a row and been without last season’s Rookie of the Year, Jayden Daniels, for much of the season. Washington battled last week but took another tough loss at the hands of the Miami Dolphins, 16-13, in overtime. Deebo Samuel was the only real bright spot for the offense with his seven catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Although Daniels has returned to practice, he’s still out for this Sunday night matchup, putting Marcus Mariota in line for his sixth start this year.

The Commanders just rallied out of a third-and-25, and converted on fourth down to keep their drive alive. They’re now suddenly in field goal range with about 26 seconds left.

The Broncos couldn’t convert a first down there, and were completely shut down on third-and-short perfectly. The Commanders will take over now at their own 14 yard line with three minutes to go and a single timeout.

The Broncos had big sack in the backfield (that should’ve been tripping) and then a near-miss on a deep pass to Ertz on third down to get Washington off the field right away.
They’ll get the ball back, and can end this thing.

The drive stalled out right away, but the Commanders added a quick field goal after the Wagner interception.
The Broncos lead 20-17 now with 12:37 to go.

Well, that was a brutal interception for Bo Nix. He threw it right to Bobby Wagner in the middle of the field, and just didn’t see him. Wagner didn’t really have to move at all, either.
The Commanders are now in a great position to take the lead again at midfield.

Nix just found Bryant on second-and-long there for a 15-yard gain right as the third quarter ended. They’ve got a ways to go still, but the Broncos are moving already on this drive

Mariota had one solid pass there — a 14-yard toss to Terry McLaurin — but the drive ended almost immediately. The Broncos will get the ball back now almost immediately after their touchdown drive with a chance to blow this game open.

We’ve got a shootout brewing in Maryland. The Broncos just answered Burks’ wild touchdown with one of their own after punching in a 1-yard score.
That’s a long 72-yard drive, and Denver is back up on top late in the third.

Oh my, Treylon Burks! He just hauled in a ridiculous one-handed grab in the end zone to put Washington back in the lead. That’s one of the best touchdown catches of the season, and very likely one of the best he’ll make in his entire career.
The Commanders are back on top, 14-13.

The Broncos ended the first half perfectly there, especially after allowing Washington to get on the board late in the second quarter. The Commanders will get the ball out of the break, however, so we’ll see how they respond.

That was a perfect two-minute drill from Bo Nix and the Broncos. He quickly marched them down the field and then found an open Courtland Sutton while being brought down in the backfield. What a wild throw there.
The Broncos are up 13-7 now just before halftime.

That’s a long drive there from the Commanders, helped out by a critical unnecessary roughness penalty inside the red zone, capped by an 8-yard touchdown run from Chris Rodriguez.
