Here are three snap count takeaways from the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 13 loss to the Texans.

Continuing on with our look back at the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 13 performance against the Houston Texans, let’s highlight some noteworthy snap count figures.

For the most part, when it comes to playing time, there aren’t many huge surprises, but each week, even when beyond the halfway point in the season, there are a few things we can glean.

So, with help from PFF, here are a few quick notes from the Colts‘ snap count totals from Week 13.

Colts‘ offense again out-snapped heavily

Although the discrepancy wasn’t as big this week as it was against the Chiefs, the Colts’ offense was out-snapped heavily once again. Houston held the ball for almost 10 minutes longer than the Colts and ran 20 more plays on offense. A key contributor to this was that the Colts’ offense struggled to stay on the field on third downs while the Texans were quite efficient.

Sauce Gardner exits with an injury

Without Gardner for much of the game, Jaylon Jones played 21 snaps at cornerback opposite of Charvarius Ward, while Mekhi Blackmon played 43 snaps out wide.

Colts expand defensive line rotations

Without DeForest Buckner, the Colts have relied mostly on a three-man rotation at defensive tackle, with Grover Stewart, Adetomiwa Adebawore, and Neville Gallimore shouldering that workload. But this week, Chris Wormley was a part of that rotation as well, playing 19 snaps. The Colts also deepened the defensive end rotation, with JT Tuimoloau playing 15 snaps as the fifth member of that unit.
