GLENDALE – At 3-9, eliminated from the playoffs in the last day of November, there isn’t much going right for the Arizona Cardinals. The fans are used to the misery the franchise bestows upon them, but this year might be the hardest one to endure in recent memory. During the Summer, the hopes were as high as could be for Arizona to be serious playoff contenders and maybe even make a run for the NFC West division title for the first time in a decade.

Those dreams turned out be a fever dream and went up in smoke for many reasons. Injuries are a major one, but for head coach Jonathan Gannon a top reason is that the team knows how to compete in games but doesn’t know how to win them.

Gannon on the Cardinals inability to win:
Seven one-score losses place the Cardinals point difference as the 21-worst team in the league, while their record is tells a different story. A couple of plays go the opposite way and the team would be looking at a top-five seed instead of a top-five pick. Gannon shoulders the blame for the team not being able to close out these close games. Arizona has one of the worst 4th-quarter point differentials in the league, showcasing their struggles in clutch situations.

Despite being eliminated from the playoffs and the public scrutiny that Gannon and his team is under, that doesn’t effect the process. The third-year Cardinals coach is determine to “forge” ahead in the final five games of the season. Gannon has shown no signs of quitting, and the same can be said for his players who have come out to show their support.
Jacoby Brissett, Darius Robinson, Trey McBride and many more players have stated to the media that they are proud of the leader Gannon has been during this tough season. The 42-year-old head coach isn’t letting the outside noise of his job security change his philosophy of how he coaches his players and is ready for the final month of 2025.
