The 2025 NFL season has not been friendly to Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings. After being a top-tier contender in the NFC last season, the Vikings are fast-tracking towards missing the playoffs this year.

With that being said, Jefferson has been seen clearly frustrated on the sidelines during multiple games this season.

That frustration has led to some concern in Minnesota. Could it be possible that Jefferson decides he needs to leave the Vikings to contend for a Super Bowl? Might he decide to request a trade in the future?

Should that happen, many teams across the NFL would line up with interest. However, there might not be a better potential destination than joining up with Patrick Mahomes on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs

So far this season, the Chiefs have struggled mightily as well. Entering Week 14, Kansas City holds a 6-6 record and is in danger of missing the playoffs as well. The offense has been far from dominant.

If Jefferson were made available by Minnesota, the Chiefs would likely have high interest in pairing him with Mahomes.

Jefferson has had a major down season from a production perspective. With the Vikings’ quarterback situation being a nightmare in 2025, he has caught just 62 passes for 799 yards and two touchdowns.

Last season in 17 games played, the 26-year-old superstar wideout caught 103 passes for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Simply looking at the numbers, Jefferson has a chance to go down as the best wide receiver to ever play in the NFL. Joining Kansas City would give him the best quarterback situation he has ever had. His numbers could jump to the best he’s produced.

Making a deal to acquire Jefferson would be the tricky part for Kansas City. The team would have to give up an immense amount of draft capital. He also has two years left on the four-year, $140 million contract that he signed with Minnesota.

However, where there is a will, there is a way. If the Chiefs wanted Jefferson badly enough, they would figure out a way to get him. At the very least, it’s a scenario to watch if Jefferson is truly getting fed up with his current situation.

Only time will tell, but the Vikings need to fix their issues or risk having one of the best offensive playmakers of all-time walk. Kansas City would be a team to watch as a threat ready to pounce on an opportunity to give Mahomes the best weapon he has ever had.
